Northern Tides Speech and Language provides comprehensive outpatient and in home speech therapy for adults and children with various types of neurological and progressive disorders. We work diligently with our patients and their families to generate a plan of care to maximize treatment potential.

Meet the Team

Kylie Cook

Speech-Language Pathologist


Kylie has been working as a Speech and Language Pathologist since 2017. She obtained her Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Kylie is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association and maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competency through various professional development courses.  Kylie has experience working with acquired and developmental speech and language disorders in the birth-3 population, school-age children and adults. She has worked in elementary, middle and high schools, early intervention private practice and skilled nursing facilities. Kylie specializes in expressive and receptive language disorders in adults and pediatrics, and adult dysphagia. Kylie is passionate about her career and helping others.

Meredith Nance

Speech-Language Pathologist


Meredith received her degrees in Speech-Language Pathology from Brigham Young University (Bachelor of Science) and New York University (Master of Science). Meredith enjoys working with Northern Tides Speech and Language LLC where she spends her time working with pediatric populations with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), receptive and expressive language disorders, feeding concerns, and articulation and phonology delays. She specializes in treating adult voice disorders and enjoys working with adults who struggle with fluency disorders. Meredith’s passion for voice disorders stems from many years of experience training to be a professional vocalist. Although her career path has changed, she is passionate about helping her clients achieve and maintain positive vocal health and hygiene habits that support their lifestyle and career path. Meredith is a dedicated speech therapist who is always striving to provide evidence-based speech therapy that helps her clients voice be heard

Laurin Largin

Speech-Language Pathologist

M.S. SLP Clinical Fellow

Laurin is a speech-language pathologist currently in her clinical fellowship year. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders and Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Auburn University. Laurin has experience working with the adult and pediatric populations. Her specialties involve working with adults who are experiencing dysphagia, expressive and receptive language difficulties, and cognitive communication disorders. Laurin completed her clinical rotations at a K-12 public school, as well as at Trident Medical Center here in Charleston. She is passionate about bettering the lives of her patients and believes communication is the foundation of human life!

Renee Kirkland

Billing Manager

Stephen is the owner and director of Northern Tides Speech and Language, LLC. He has been working as a speech and language pathologist since 2010. Stephen graduated from Nazareth College of Rochester with a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. He specializes in treating neurological voice and swallowing disorders, motor speech problems, and expressive/receptive language deficits in adults, as well as feeding and language disorders in the pediatric population. Stephen is an LSVT LOUD Certified Clinician and is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association.  He is certified to perform Neuromuscular Electric Stimulation for swallowing. He maintains his Certificate of Clinical Competency and continues to enroll in ongoing professional development courses. Stephen has worked in various medical settings including hospitals, acute rehabilitation, assisted and skilled nursing facilities, and memory care units. He currently works part-time as an adjunct professor for New York University's online graduate speech pathology program.

Renee Kirkland is the Billing Manager for Northern Tides Speech and Language, LLC. After pursuing a degree in Administration from Tri-County Technical College, she settled into a Career in Medical Billing. Renee ensures all claims are paid correctly and in a timely manner. Renee stays current with the ever changing Insurance Guidelines by enrolling in classes and attending various Insurance Workshops. Renee is married to Horace James or H.J. as he is sometimes called and they have a daughter, Rylee. When not at work, you will find the three of them involved in various Community Projects or other adventures.
